The term hanji translates to “paper from Korea” or “Korean paper,” specifically traditional paper handmade from the inner bark of the paper mulberry plant. Paper Mulberry is found commonly throughout Asia, but is localized in Korea to the foothills of the nation’s many mountain ranges. Hanji has an ancient and extensive history ranging in application from clothing to flooring and even armor!

For this reason, Hanji is known for its incredible strength and longevity, in addition to its unique texture and beautiful appearance. This Smooth Korean Paper Roll features a natural mulberry base that is smooth on one side (unsized) with a slight texture on the reverse.
